So sorry for the loss of your father Louise 🤍 Hope you find inner peace in the little things to overcone the grief. I enjoyed reading about your studies in the National Gallery, looking forward to read more.
Really sorry for your loss and heartfelt condolences as you heal from your grief. 🫶Sending much love and positivity your way. I absolutely loved this post so much!! Is this program for well established artists or can beginners join the program to improve their skills in a concentrated 10 weeks? Your take on Happy Union was wonderful, I always learn so much from your process posts. I have a million gallery art in my phone that I’ve taken from museums I’ve traveled to but never had the courage to copy them in this manner. I’ll give it a try to understand them at a deeper level. Thank you so much for sharing your process and looking forward to the next two chapters of this.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, thank you for your kind words. The program is open to all levels. I'm so glad that this has encouraged you to try copying paintings from your travels, I think it's a great way to appreciate them and learn from them. No need to put pressure on yourself, just focus on the process and things will reveal themselves. :)
I've not copied a painting since I was at college and it was a huge struggle for me at the time so I've not done it since! 🫣 It sounds as though you learn so much from doing it I'd like to try again. Love your drawings!x
Thank you! Ooh, I hope I can convince you to try again! I too have bad memories of doing it at school, but if it's on your own terms with no pressure, I think it's really worthwhile, even if it's a quick sketch. ❤️
All my love and condolences, dear Louise. I hope you are slowly healing and finding moments to smile about, despite the grief of your loss.
It is so lovely to see just how much work you made, and how useful the drawing programme was to your practice! The National Gallery sketches are fantastic, you’ve captured so much of each painting’s original energy, but all in your own wonderful style!
Oh, and of course it was *such* a highlight for me to finally catch up with you for a little mudlark adventure 😆 Really looking forward to reading the next instalment, and also hope to see you again soon!
Thank you Rachel, I'm so happy that you enjoyed reading and liked the drawings.
Yes, definitely a highlight for me too! I would love to meet up with you again soon, perhaps for our brocante-ing trip... I'll message you about it soon! ❤️
Thank you for sharing your experience of the drawing programme, it looks truly wonderful and your drawings from the National Gallery visit are exceptional.
I’ve just been reading your pieces on your Royal Drawing School course (I’ve not read number 2 yet). As someone who’s most comfortable drawing from life, I relate to what you say in piece 1. And this really appeals to me - spending days drawing in a gallery. In fact, I think I will take this up! Love this idea, and your pieces are beautiful. Are they all pencil? (Coloured and graphite?). Also, working on one piece in a sustained way sounds like such a great discipline! X
Thank you for your kind words, Ella! I hope you do give it a go, I’d love to see your drawings. Yes, they’re all pencil, except for the Van Dyck one which has a bit of Tombow marker thrown into the mix. :)
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I wish you every comfort as you grieve his loss and may drawing be a solace to you Louise. 🙏💖
Thank you! It is a solace, I feel lucky to have it. ❤️
I am sorry about your dad. It is great you are able to write about this time in your life and reflect on his life, and your drawings are wonderful.
Thank you so much!

This was so interest read. I often see people drawing pictures in a gallery and have never understood why. Now I want to have a go. Thank you .
