Thank you so much! Yes, I think limitations are the best! They force you to be extra creative and lead to interesting solutions that you never would have thought of otherwise.
This was so beautiful to see and read Louise! I am still on a phase where is toooo hard to pick a limited palette when traveling :) beginner artist here, but I will get there. Never been to Paris, maybe 2025 will be the right time ;) in time to see your exposition!
Thank you so much! To be fair, I think it's a lot easier for places you know well - I don't think I could limit it so much for a new place. In any case, I have found that colours becomes more intuitive the more you work with them. Yay, perhaps see you in 2025! ;)
It’s so interesting to read about your limited palette and how you worked with it in the botanical gardens. Thank you for sharing how you chose your palette. The wall of sunsets is so beautiful!
I so enjoyed reading this, both for some background to preparing for your trip away and the inspiration you found when there. I’m forever in awe of your beautiful work and hope I may be able to hang something up of yours in my little studio space one day. Warmly, Fran (Woollen Hearted)
Thank you! Hmm, good question. I inherited my pastels (they're Royal Talens "Rembrandt" ones). They're very nice to use but I haven't had the chance to try any other brands. I tend to think any would do when starting out, as long as they are soft artist chalks and not ones aimed at kids. And I'd favour buying a couple of colours you really like rather than a set of basic bright colours. The ones I reach for most are the more muted colours. Hope that helps a bit!
Wonderful to see how productive you are!!! I went to Paris last fall. It is an inspiring city.
Thank you! Ah lovely, it certainly is!
I love your palette and seeing all your beautiful sketches all together! 😍
Thank you so much! :)
So gorgeous to see the combinations of the city scenes with the nature scenes! And I love the limited palette, always a good teacher!

I love your cactus, your thoughts, and your wall of sunsets. Looking at them, you can feel the connection with nature and light.
That is so lovely to hear, thank you!
So nice to read about your trip and the limited palette! I always ended up bringing so much but not using them🤣
Thank you! Same here, it seems like the more I bring, the less I use!

I love the colours! What kind of chalk do you recommend for someone who is just starting to draw?
